Project Summary

We operate on the 2nd Saturday of each month throughout the year and also the 4th Saturday from September to February (except December). Please wear old clothing and if possible safety boots (steel toe caps), bring lunch and water. Please note reserve gates is closed for security purposes

Project Description

The Friends of Garthorne Road Nature Reserve began in 2016 consist of local residents and other members of the community and a very active committee group discussing about fundraising and other events and also opening the reserve on the 3rd Saturday from March to October.

Our objectives are: To promote, maintain and enhance the indigenous wildlife and botanical value of this green oasis in an urban area and use it for educational use for schools and the general public.

Achieved in this project

We have achieved Green Flag Community Award for the past 4 years, Installed infrastructure such as benches, Interpretation signs, steps and having regular Open days and conservation workdays improving the habitats for wildlife to thrive.

We continue to manage the site to further improve.
