Project Description

What's Involved?

• gathering and interpreting species records from experts and visitors
• entering species records into a web-based wildlife recording system
• keeping track of the running total of species found
• updating a display of the total number of species so visitors can see our progress
• sharing records online and showing visitors how to submit their own records

This role will suit you if you are

• able to record species accurately. Expert knowledge of wildlife is not essential in this role but to ensure accurate recording it helps to know which group animals belong to and what a record to species level looks like
• looking for some event volunteering experience
• able to use a computer to accurately record data gathered during the event
• confident communicating with different age groups, including families
• comfortable working at pace in a busy environment
• interested in the natural world and conservation
• keen to inspire others to enjoy and care for their local wildlife and green spaces

• grow your confidence in communicating, including with family visitors
• get experience of working in a fast-moving team
• learn more about plants and animals – expert wildlife knowledge is desirable, but not essential for this role as you will enter the data once species have been identified
