Project Description

We're looking for enthusiastic and passionate individuals to deliver fun and engaging wildlife-themed activities for children at our Wildlife Watch club at the Wyre Forest Discovery Centre between Stourport and Bewdley (2nd Sunday of the month in the afternoon).

You will assist alongside two leaders and other volunteer helpers for ages 8–13yrs. Activities may include bug hunts, pond dipping, crafts, games and many other activities. Volunteers will assist with the delivery of activities to a group of children to help them understand the wildlife around them and complete fun enjoyable tasks.

Desired Experience/Skills

  1. Experience of working with children in a school or other learning environment
  2. Experience of delivering creative environmental education to children
  3. Interest and enthusiasm for wildlife conservation and aims of the Wildlife Trusts
  4. Willingness to be outside in all weathers
  5. A basic knowledge of UK wildlife and ID skills – although you don’t need to be an expert
  6. Able to work flexibly and use initiative
  7. Able to work in a team
  8. Able to communicate in engaging and professional way to children and adults
  9. Understanding of child safeguarding and health and safety procedures
  10. Willingness to be involved in various tasks if the need arises during a session

This position will require you to provide details of two referees.
