Project Summary

Prime chalk grassland set in a quiet tranquil location. Part of the Dover to Kingsdown SSSI and part of Kent Downs AONB. Volunteer conservation tasks this winter will mostly include clearing scrub and invasive trees to keep grassland routes open for wildlife; maintaining fences, gates, footpaths and steps for people in this lovely nature reserve.

Project Description

IMPROVING WILDLIFE CORRIDOR, SOUTH FORELAND VALLEY

10:00am to 15:00 pm on the following dates:

26th November, 24th December 2019, 12th and 28th January, 25th February and 24th March 2020.

LEADER: Matt Weiss, White Cliffs Countryside Partnership (07880 706993). MEET: At informal car park, Seaview Road, South Foreland Valley, St. Margaret’s-at-Cliffe, near Dover (TR 358 463).

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU Bring plenty to drink and lunch if you intend to stay all day. We usually provide water, squash, tea and biscuits. We provide an experienced leader, training and supervision, tools and gloves, but please bring your own gear if you prefer.

WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR • Sturdy boots or safety shoes (not trainers) with good grip and thick soles • Old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or torn • Long sleeved shirts and trousers to protect your limbs • Waterproofs/ wellies if rain forecast.
