An ancient woodland that is made up of a diverse mix of predominantly deciduous trees. The main tasks here are thanks to a collaboration with Natural England who own and manage the woodland. We visit the wood twice over the winter to collect materials (stakes and binders) for our hedgelaying tasks at Romney Warren.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU Bring plenty to drink and lunch if you intend to stay all day. We usually provide water, squash, tea and biscuits. We provide an experienced leader, training and supervision, tools and gloves, but please bring your own gear if you prefer.
WHAT YOU SHOULD WEAR • Sturdy boots or safety shoes (not trainers) with good grip and thick soles • Old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or torn • Long sleeved shirts and trousers to protect your limbs • Waterproofs/wellies if rain forecast. Wellies advisable as the woodland can be very wet.
