Project Description
Assisting in all aspects of our work, you’ll learn practical habitat management (primarily in heathland with some woodland and hay meadows), livestock/estate work, wildlife survey (depending on the season). If here for the winter, you will be trained in chainsaw.
Residential volunteering will give you a valuable insight into the RSPB, nature conservation and heathland management. You must be enthusiastic, work well in a team with a keen interest in wildlife & conservation. The ability to undertake strenuous manual labour & work outdoors in all weathers essential!
We take residential volunteers for a period of 6-12 months. Minimum age 18. Full manual driving licence. Accommodation and practical training provided. This is a practical, sometimes physically demanding, reserve-based placement. We have up to three residential volunteers at a time, living in a 3 bedroom, purpose built log cabin.
